I am fat. Not like ‘fat fat’ but I’ve put on 23lbs over the past 3 months. UGGGHHH. Who knew that correcting your iron deficiency would not only correct all of the issues my iron deficiency caused BUT also make my appetite increase 500%. I’ve been insatiable for 3 months and now have a large muffin top now and I’m not happy. I have been wanting to eat everything. I don’t like that my clothes don’t fit well and pinch me right now. So what’s a girl to do but Fix that shit. The Candida diet is my only hope to get this under control. Yesterday I threw away my entire snack stash to show how serious I am about getting back on track.
You need to know that we’ve tried every diet lifestyle out there but the #1 tried and true plan that made us (Shawn, Alex and I – Sam is only 50% on board) feel awesome, lose weight and have tons of energy and great skin – was the Candida Diet. I use to have a website dedicated to Candida Albicans information and recipes but I let it go to make way for this new blog and my #cookingwithwendy recipes.
You can follow along on my journey to see my struggle and wins with sticking to the Candida Diet over the next month. Last time we followed the diet for about 7 months and then we got lazy and introduced other foods in too much and travelled and then it was done. We weren’t on any particular diet over the past year and now it shows on our waistlines and skin.
Today I am 174 but the other day I was 176. I am usually between 150 & 155lbs so I’m going to shoot for 153lbs as my goal weight. No time frame is set because I don’t think that’s a healthy way to diet but – I’m going to do my best to get it done before July.
What is the Candida Diet?
This is my favorite website to learn and find information about Candida – Yeast Infection Advisor. Basically, Yeast/Candida feed on Sugar. Almost every food has some sugars in it. We are addicted to sugar – YOU are addicted to sugar. Have you ever cut sugar, caffeine, tobacco, etc. out of your diet for a week and then have those withdrawls, headaches, crazy cravings and more? Well, sugar is the worst because it’s almost impossible to escape. You have to eat to live not live to eat right? Not in America. We live to eat.
Since we’ve done this diet before and know how our bodies react to it we are excited to commit and use all our willpower to stay strong.
What are we eating? Think of the Candida Diet as a Paleo diet with some restrictions. That’s probably the easiest way to explain it really.
Today we went to Whole Foods, Costco & QFC to get all the food we all need for our various cravings and palates.
Lots of Fresh Fruit that is low sugar – Strawberries, Blueberries, Blackberries, Raspberries, Cherries, Kiwi, Limes, Apples and also some Mangos because we love them.
Veggies – Cauliflower, Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Celery, Broccoli, Green, Red and Yellow Peppers, Leafy Lettuce, Yellow and Red Onions, Leeks, Bok Choi, Spinach and lots of green mixed leafy veggies for Smoothies.
Meats and Fish – all wild caught or organic and GMO Free. Top Sirloin, ground Turkey, Turkey Thighs, Chicken Wings, Langostino Lobster Tails, Salmon, Rockfish and Cod.
Eggs with Omega 3 and free range, Fage Yogurt, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Apple Cider Vinegar, and lots of other additions that we need to make delicious meals and snacks to keep us happy.
Cravings are serious business. Sure, eating a deliciously prepared Salmon filet with Asparagus cooked in lemon and olive oil along with a little wild rice sounds DELICIOUS but at 9pm when you see a commercial for ice cream or cake – you brain starts going crazy and searching for treats. Next thing you know you’re eating a box of Apple Jacks on the couch right out of the box and running to the closest Handy Mart to get a Pint of Ice Cream that you also devour.
Nope! I’m done being hostage to my addiction.
My Snack stockpile is now replaced with this… Stay tuned for my progress reports and Recipes! I can cook the shit out of this diet. I got super creative last time so now I have to challenge myself!
