Today I’m making Cream Cheese Frosted Cinnamon Rolls.
Our kids have requested them but there were (2) very big demands:
- Use White Flour
- Cream Cheese Frosting
I have made Cinnamon Rolls every which way you can think of for every diet style. Shawn and I like my Gluten Free and my Whole Wheat versions but the kids just eat them with looks of disgust because the only way they like cinnamon rolls is if they are ‘white’, fluffy and doughy. Gluten Free doesn’t do that so much and whole wheat does but it’s not ‘white’ so they are kind of jerks about it. If they closed their eyes and ate it I know they’d love it.
This is the recipe I make that is totally devoured by them. Kid Tested, Mother Approved.
*I’m listing the simple recipe but here are the exchanges I use for our diet: All Organic and GMO free items, Almond Milk, Raw Cane Sugar or Turbinado instead of Brown Sugar (coconut sugar is great too)
This is the Perfect weekend splurge for breakfast or as a dessert.

TOPPING INGREDIENTS

- 1/3 Cup Softened Butter
- 1 1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 Tsp Vanilla
- 1/8 Tsp Salt
- 2 TBL Milk
DIRECTIONS
DOUGH: Made Using KitchenAid Mixer
In your Mixer Bowl: Mix/whisk Top 3 Ingredients together and let sit for 10 Minutes. While waiting, Measure out your Flour and Salt and put in a bowl. Make sure your butter is softened and if you forgot, just microwave it for 15-20 Seconds. Have your Eggs ready.
When your Yeast mix is frothy, add in the butter and eggs and whisk together until blended. Then add about 1/2 of your flour & salt mixture and mix with a wooden spoon or spatula.
Place your mixing bowl on your mixer with your DOUGH handle. While mixing slowly add in the remaining flour.
When fully incorporated keep on medium speed to knead for about 5 minutes. Until it’s one big dough piece and sticky but incorporated.
Get out a little soft butter and lift out your dough from the bowl. Rub butter all over your dough ball and then knead and rub it in your mixing bowl. Beat down and then cover bowl with saran wrap and set on warm stove top.
I like to heat the oven to 300 to help the rise. Let RISE 1 HOUR or until at least doubled.
When Doubled, roll out onto floured surface and try to roll out as long and as wide as you can.
If you can get it to and ‘even-ish- 15 x 20 inch rectangle then you are doing awesome. Don’t worry so much about it being perfect. I don’t and it still tastes awesome.

FILLING:
**Reminder: MAKES 12 Large & Thick Cinnamon Rolls or 24 Thin Rolls. For More Rolls, Divided Finished Dough into two balls before rolling out. and follow the directions below with the rolling and filling.
Preheat Oven to 400 Degrees. In a small bowl mix Sugar, Cinnamon and Cloves together well.
Spread softened butter on rolled out dough and make sure to get the entire surface.
Sprinkle sugar mixture over the entire buttered dough surface.
Roll dough into a long ‘roll’ and then Cut into at least 12 Rolls.
OPTIONS: I like our Rolls to have crispier outside edges but some people like all their rolls gooier and moist on the outside so here are your 2 Baking Options.
- Use a large Parchment Lined Rectangular Baking Pa. Plenty of space between each Roll
- Butter a 9 x 13 Baking Dish and place each roll evenly separated
Let Rise for about 20 minutes or until rolls are doubled. Place in Oven for about 15-20 Minutes or until bubbly and lightly browned.
TOPPING:
While Rolls are baking, Beat Together Topping Ingredients and stick your finger in to make sure it’s heavenly. You deserve a treat right?
Once Rolls are done, immediately top them with Topping.

Enjoy!
