My son doesn’t like Apple Pie. However, this is the ONLY recipe where he won’t shut up about how much he loves My Cinnamon Apple Pies. In fact, my whole family loves them. Shawn is sort of in love with them.
Use my Pie Crust Recipe and then follow the directions below to make your own Individual Cinnamon Apple Pies.
- 5-6 Medium Apples (peeled & chopped or sliced)
- 2 TBL Cinnamon
- 1/2 Cup Butter
- 1/4 Cup flour
- 1 Cup Water
- 1/2 Tsp Ground Cloves
- 1/2 Cup Brown or Turbinado Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Cane or Light Sugar
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Get a pan with parchment paper big enough to hold your 4 individual cinnamon apple pies.
Make sure you’ve already prepared your Pie Crust per my recipe or if you have another dough recipe or store bought version, have it ready.
Take your apples (sliced or cubed) and put them in a large bowl and mix them up with the cinnamon. Set this aside for now.
Take your 4 Pie Ramekins or Oven proof dishes and take your dough disks and mold them to your baking dishes like this:
See how what I did isn’t pretty but – it works and will taste delicious! You just want it to cover the entire inside and come up a bit over the top. Push, pinch and pull. That is my method.
Next, Pile up the Apples evenly into the pies, like this:
Now, for this particular recipe, my kids like me to pour the cooked sugar/butter mixture over the top of the pies so I use a “Lattice” style Pie Crust so that the liquid seeps through the holes into the apples in the pie. You can choose to just pour the mix on top of the apples directly and then add your top crust or, make a lattice crust and then pour over. Another option is to pour the mix on top of your apples directly, put on your lattice or regular pie crust top and then lightly brush on a bit of the sugar/butter mix. I suggest that if you are not a regular pie maker that you just pour the mix on top of the apples directly.
Next, prepare your sugar/butter mix. In a medium sauce pan heat your butter on Medium High. Add in your Flour one melted and constantly whisk them until it forms a paste. Add in your Water, and sugars and bring to a boil, whisking constantly. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and keep whisking for a couple of minutes.
Applying directly to apples: If you are adding directly on top of your apples, evenly pour mix onto your apples. Place your Pie Crust on top. Pinch around the edges to seal in the filling and place on your parchment lined baking pan to go in the oven.
Applying on top of Lattice Pie Crust: If you are wanting this mixture to go on top of your pie crust and seep into your apples through the holes, make sure you already had this prepared in advance, like this:
Pour the mix on top of the crust and it will look like this – and YES, I know it seems weird but you’ve just got to trust me!
See, it looks weird right? Told ya.
Now, Pop these into your oven for about 15 Minutes at 425 Degrees.
NEXT – Turn down the oven to 350 for 1hr.
When they look like this, they are done and ready to be taken out of the oven:
Let them cool for at least 10 minutes before attempting to scarf down. Top with your favorite ice cream or eat just by itself – it’s AMAZING.
Enjoy and let me know what you think.
