Amora Thapae Chiang Mai – Chiang Mai

Sat, Oct 12 – Wed, Oct 30 2019, $846 USD for 18 Nights. We wanted to be spoiled a bit so we searched for a facility that had all the amenities we wanted for that purpose – within the budget we set. Finding a place in the location we wanted with a pool, sauna, gym, (All for Shawn), comfortable beds, large room, water pot, refrigerator, Bathtub (for Sebastian and I) and daily Breakfast included wasn’t an easy task. We found it all though in the Amora Thapae. The pillows feel like clouds, we have a fantastic view of the city and mountains, our room is comfortable and warm, the AC is great and we have a WiFi Router in our room! Awesome. breakfast is really good and there is a large assortment. There is also a free shuttle to various local hotels around the area and the big Central Festival Mall. Score. Fantastic staff, restaurant on site, big outdoor pool and so much more. Very clean too.

Night Bazaar Inn – Chiang Mai

Sat, Oct 5 – Sat, Oct 12 2019, $264 for 7 Nights. Big hotel. Very clean and nice. Daily breakfast included in our price and directly across from Kalare Night Market. Good food and entertainment but sort of dead in low season. Clean and well designed and updated rooms. Balcony, TV, Water pot, Canopy King Bed and private bath. You MUST check out the Women’s Toilets near the Lobby by the Gym. Best Toilet Thrones I’ve ever seen. Clean but small pool and fully Gym. Laundry available on site for the same price as locals charge and very convenient. Lots of great walking areas and close to the large Night Market. Easily walk to the old town and Taxi and Tuk Tuks are aplenty. Breakfast is great each morning. My husband says it’s his favorite of all hotel breakfasts thus far. READ FULL REVIEW HERE

Homey Dormy Chiangrai – Chiang Rai

Wed, Oct 2 – Sat, Oct 5 2019, $80 USD for 3 Nights. Very pretty and set back from the main street. The pictures are deceiving as the pretty pools are broken down and empty currently and the areas near the stairs to the rooms are all filled with laundry and other items. Very clean rooms and modern looking. Comfortable beds, private bath, hot water pot, refrigerator and TV. We were on 2nd floor. Quiet and also close to lots of markets. Short walk to Po Ko Market which has cheap eats. 11 minute walk to the big Central Plaza Shopping Mall. Lots of bars, food, shopping, etc. This is more of an area for locals, not tourists so less English speakers. The front desk of the hotel is really helpful and scheduled us a Taxi for our departure. We would stay here again.

Chateau de Bangkok – Bangkok

Sun, Sept 8 – Thu, Sept 12 2019. $352 USD for 4 Nights. We wanted a little luxury for a few days so we paid more for it. In a nicer part of town where all the big hotels are. Great shopping mall directly across the street. The Big Malls and other Shopping and dining aren’t too far away to walk to but you can easily catch a Tuk Tuk or taxi. The front desk can help with this as well. We paid for daily breakfast and it was really worth it. New selections daily and good food. Our room was huge and we had a kitchen. walk in closet and large bathroom with jetted tub. A bit outdated and had some issue with the stove needing maintenance but all in all a great place. We’d stay here again for sure. We booked our Airport Taxi from the front desk so we’d get metered service.

Lada Krabi Express – Krabi Town

Thu, Sept 5 – Sun, Sept 8 2019. $94 USD for 3 Nights. We loved Krabi Town. Great location and free breakfast around the corner at the Lada Krabi Residences. Make sure your Taxi Driver knows the difference as we were dropped off around the corner. No shoes in rooms. Refrigerator, hot water, TV, porch and private bath with shower door. Score. Right next to the weekend Night Market which is wonderful BTW. Live entertainment, great food and better retail offerings. Easy to walk to pier and get a private longboat ride for 1hr for 500 Baht for our family. Lots of easy walking and great food all around with the daily food market just next door. Also offerings of the Vogue shopping mall and bigger name eateries like Pizza Company and Dairy Queen and lots of Grocery and retail items. Friendly front desk. *We didn’t take any photos of the property.

Whalecome Aonang Resort – Ao Nang Beach Krabi

Sun, Sept 1 – Thu, Sept 5 2019. $128 USD for 4 Nights. Clean resort up a steep driveway off the main road. Close to walk to beach and all the nightlife, restaurants and shops in town. Great location. Clean pool. Breakfast is okay. We only paid for one morning. Lots of food in the area though so no biggie if you don’t pay for daily breakfast. Beds are comfortable. Run by nice family with 2 kids. We paid for Laundry service and they did a good job and on time for a fair price. More expensive then others down the street but we paid for the convenience of same day service. Refrigerator, water pot, TV, private bath. Small deck facing gardens/pool with sliding glass door from your front door. Quiet place great for families. We scheduled Taxi for trip to Krabi Town through them. Fair Price. *We didn’t take any photos of the property.

Phi Phi Ba Kao Bay Resort – Phi Phi Don Island

Tue, Aug 27 – Sun, Sept 1 2019. $133 for 5 Nights. What an experience. We took the Ferry from Phuket and at the pier were greeted by the Hotel LongBoat skipper. Make sure you let them know how you are arriving and when so they come get you. They take all your bags and take them off the pier. Pay 20 Baht per person to leave pier. Then walk through the sand to the Long Boat. Make sure to wear appropriate clothing and shoes as you need to walk into the water to get on and off the boat. Crazy windy and rainy trip on the longboat to the beach. Low tide meant a long walk up the beach. They had all our stuff go on one bike while another took us. Arrived at the Resort and were quickly checked in. There is an above ground pool that is very clean and refreshing. Lots of little cottages. Definitely book the larger rooms for a couple dollars more as it’s worth it. Trust me. TV, private bath, big bed. Maybe they could do better on housekeeping and on the quality of their linens (lots of tears in our bedding). Very friendly staff but the Boat crew were definitely the best. We had some issues with our Toilet and also our TV and they never fixed them after 2 requests. The Town is very small and walkable. We walked all over our half of the island but didn’t make the trek to the popular side where the pier is as we’d have to take our toddler and it is supposed to be a bit of a wild walk. Nice stay, very quiet. They bring you back to the pier for free but make sure to tip the boat guys. You can also request to go to the other side at the front desk only when they go regularly daily. This is a free service.

Baan Sailom Hotel Phuket – Karon Beach, Phuket

Tue, Aug 20 – Tue, Aug 27 2019. $232 USD for 7 Nights. What a fantastic place. Beautiful hidden gem. Fantastic staff. Really good food in the Restaurant with a 15% discount for all hotel guests. Rooms are big and clean. Boutique Hotel. Very close to beach and lots of restaurants nearby as well as convenience stores, massage parlors and shopping. Small but very clean and refreshing pool. We booked Taxi through front desk to the Ferry that goes to Phi Phi Islands. Fair pricing and great service all around. We would stay here again.

Paragon One Residence – Bangkok

Wed, Aug 14 – Tue, Aug 20 2019. $151 USD for 6 nights. Hidden gem in a very walk-able part of town. Just 8 minute walk to Khao San Road (Hangover Movie!). Very clean. King Bed is a bit hard. Private Bathroom. Small deck. No view in our room. No Natural light in room but there were some rooms with lots of light. Just ask. Elevator on site. Very helpful staff. Daily free breakfast of Eggs and rice. Anything else is a bit extra. TV in room. Hot shower. Quiet and very safe. Lots of local food nearby and finding Tuk Tuks is pretty easy if you need one. Just go to the Turn Around and you are good to go.

Mercure Chiang Mai – Chiang Mai

Fri, Dec 16 – Sat, Dec 17 2016. $133 USD for 1 Night for 2 Hotel Rooms double occupancy. Very nice hotel. Clean and very large rooms. Very hard beds. Friendly front desk but almost zero English. We did’t check out facilities as we just arrived on night bus and pretty much slept the entire time there except to go out and eat. They arranged Taxi to take us to our Housesit the next morning. I remember that they had lots of signs about NO DURIAN all over the hotel. *We didn’t take any photos of the property.

Tiger Lily Hostel – Bangkok

Mon, Dec 12 – Thu, Dec 15 2016. $121 USD for 3 nights. 4 Twin Bed Room in Hostel. They actually moved us to their Sister Hostel next door…the Water Lily as it was better for families. Lots of steep stairs and shared bathrooms. Fantastic blankets and beds. Very homey and friendly. Laundry Services were excellent and fair. Morning basic breakfast of breads and noodles. Lots of cheap local food in alley next door. Great location for walking and catching Tuk Tuks. Very clean and friendly.
