It’s ironic that today is the first snow day we’ve had in our area this winter and that it’s the last day of our local winter break. Good thing our kids do online public school so every day can be a fun day if it snows.

Our kids are CRAZY Excited. It’s a Sunday and they were doing some schoolwork and cleaning up their rooms (not at the same time) and then, when they found out it was snowing – they went stupid.
They are 18 & 14 and Both insisted that we put on Polar Express and make Hot Chocolate – after they ran around in the snow. I love their childlike wonder and how they are just both such joyful kids who love the simple things in life.
They like this Candy Cane Hot Chocolate sugary stuff in a container from Costco but I like making it from scratch. Here’s what I made:

INGREDIENTS
- 2 Cups Almond Milk (or any milk)
- 2 TBL Chocolate Chips (or to your liking)
- Whipped Cream
- Sprinkles
DIRECTIONS
I uses a Small Saucepan on the stove and pour in the milk and heat on medium high. As it starts to steam a bit pour in your chocolate. Now, I’ve used white chocolate before too and it’s great. Get creative. Try mint chips, andes mints, whatever you’ve go lying around. Just know that if you use bakers chocolate you need to add some sweetener of some sort otherwise it will be nasty.
Whisk the entire time until all chips are melted and take a spoon and test it to see if you need more chocolates added or a bit more milk to cut it. Also, a little water can help thin it if it’s too rich and thick for you.
Pour the hot chocolate into a mug, put on your whipped cream and add some sprinkles. Open the windows up and watch the snow come down with your favorite holiday movie.
